Zoah Caesiellus

Zoah led a sheltered middle class life up until his sibling manifested as an Animalia - a person who has fostered a spiritualesque connection to an animal, taking on traits the animal may have. For instance, wings if they bonded with a bird, or scales and gills if with a fish. These people are heavily discriminated against, being considered no better than animals, and the event tore Zoah's family apart.

Unwilling to simply accept this, Zoah dedicated himself to studying Animalia. This ultimately led him to Medicine, where he proved himself an ideal student - diligent, intelligent and personable. Though his sibling complex and high-strung, easily flustered personality did sometimes leave more to be desired.

During this time Zoah formed a close relationship with his Professor, and had a rather obvious crush. But more important was helping with his Professor's research on Animalia. Little did he know what was in store for him.

One day Zoah discovered his Professor's secret laboratory - full of tubes of people and animals, his sibling amongst them. Appalled, Zoah confronted his mentor. Unfortunately for Zoah, this was the wrong thing to do. Refusing to let the research be compromised, the Professor captured Zoah and turned him into his next test subject himself - meaning Zoah underwent months of experimentation from someone he previously trusted and cared for deeply.

Now connections with certain animals are not coincidental - it takes a specific set of circumstances for it to happen. In Zoah's case, he fostered a connection with a jellyfish kept in the lab, which identified with Zoah's desire to not be touched and to lash out against his captor, but also the simultaneously wishing to just be left alone and go with the flow. This connection manifested in Zoah as toxic skin that would mildly burn someone upon touch, as well as prehensile, growable hair, which can lash out like tentacles and carry a stronger sting.

His new abilities allowed Zoah briefly incapacitate his Professor and escape - he just wasn't able to also save his sibling, or the other animals and humans stuck in the lab in the process. Barely escaping with his life, Zoah immediately he went into hiding using the underground connections he had fostered during his independent research of Animalia... and then also experienced discrimination for the first time, as well as learned of his new touch avoidant nature.

Soon after, Zoah was informed that a bounty had been put on his head. He retreated further underground, isolating himself by becoming a back-alley doctor to make ends meet, trying to come to terms with his trauma and guilt.

Zoah has a rather intense and blunt personality, yet on the flip side he's honest, animated and occasionally charming when he wants to be. Though one should still watch for his biting sense of humor. Having grown up as a big brother, he has an almost natural paternal instinct towards others (especially those younger than him). Unfortunately, his trauma has made him cautious of fostering any new relationships, and he can be defensive and moody - particularly when people start getting a little too close for his tastes, both emotionally and physically. At best he's temperamental and avoidant, at worst he's nigh maliciously flippant.

It doesn't help that even before he became an Animalia, he was more of an introvert and naturally anxious, and can get quite negative. Simply put, he's a sensitive awkward mess of a person, delicate and frustrating for those who aren't patient enough with him in wanting more. For those that are, it can be rewarding though! Since upon opening up, Zoah is very sincere, playful and warm.

Ultimately the issue is that Zoah has a lot of feelings about practically everything. His primary issue is that he feels guilty that all he seems able to do is run away, or push people away, and he wants to do better at doing right by others. So even if he is ansty with any touchiness and boundary pushing, he's extremely stubborn and at the very least can overcome this when it is a medical emergency... or maybe even when it's someone he happens to like a lot.

Zoah is a Jellyfish Animalia, meaning he possesses an animal spirit in addition to his human soul and that can manifest that animal attributes at will--and sometimes not. When he's not manifesting any attributes, he passes completely as a human -- except spiritually, which can absolutely be picked up by psychics/magical people/what have you, or if someone touches him. That's because his skin is basically constantly toxic, he can't help it.

When intentionally manifesting, skin-to-skin contact will carry a stronger shock, and his hair will become prehensile -- able to give others a sting that will leave a rash/make one pass out depending just how resistant one is, or how strong the shock is. His skin also turns a light shade of blue, and his hair looks less like hair and more like actual Jelly tendrils.
